Summary
I am a recent college graduate with a degree in music business. Currently, I am in graduate school studying journalism and just beginning a career in communications. I entertain a wide range of interests and talents, including social media, music, photography, writing, and art. As a dedicated and motivated professional, I am always seeking to enhance my knowledge through a variety of experiences.
Professional Experience
Dallas Business Journal (September 2013- January 2014)
I was a researcher at the Dallas Business Journal where I worked primarily on the infamous Book of LISTS. I created dozens of lists included in the 2014 DBJ Book of Lists. I also helped create the launch of the first “pinstripe” issue and all issues after. On a normal day, I researched various company information including financial statements to build the lists and build relationships with industry experts to verify information accuracy and relevance. In addition, I designed industry-specific surveys to create the lists. I made any initial copy edits to all lists. I used and promoted the official DBJ Lists Twitter handle for recruiting survey participants, engaging in industry discussions and promoting published content. Finally, I co-wrote columns and blog posts with the research director analyzing surveyed data and list results.
American Heart Association (May 2013- August 2013)
I was a communications intern at the national headquarters of the American Heart and American Stroke Associations. As an intern, I was involved in copywriting, editing and promoting editorial and other news-related content produced for national release. I also assisted in maintaining social media and online presence for the non-profit organization.
The Duster Today (August 2012- December 2012)
I was the editor of The Duster Today, a student-produced campus newspaper. The publication had ceased to exist for nearly a decade. As editor, I resurrected this near extinct publication through exponentially increasing staff size, introducing social media, and nearly returning the publication to print. I established relations with a local printing company and instituted a plan for advertising. I taught the staff the importance of social media and community relations. Apart from managing the paper, I wrote many feature stories.
KCBD News Channel 11 Intern (May-July 2012)
I started this internship as a requirement for my undergraduate degree. Within one summer, I shadowed and helped with all facets of broadcast journalism. I learned how to produce, direct and report for television broadcast. I primarily worked in web where I wrote and edited stories for posting. I also administered the KCBD website and Facebook page. I quickly developed knowledge in AP style. Excelling exceptionally fast, I impressed management and began training for a potential position with KCBD.
Tutor: Microsoft and Adobe Software (Fall 2010- December 2012)
While a student at Lubbock Christian University, I alone tutored document design and photo manipulation software to other students. All students struggling with creating and editing documents in Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite were referred to me.
Education
University of North Texas- Denton, TX (January 2013- Present)
I am a Mayborn Scholar and graduate student in the Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism seeking to obtain a M.A. in journalism. So far, I have had coursework in copywriting and editing, communications theory and online/integrated marketing and communications.

I took courses in advertising, marketing, public relations and technical writing. I held an office in Koinonia, a men’s social club geared toward community service and moral living. I was also involved in numerous theater productions and musical performances.
UNISUL- Florianopolis, Brazil (Fall 2011)
While at LCU, I had the opportunity to study abroad at Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina (UNISUL) with the International Studies Abroad organization.
